Hideout Ranch
Tucked away in Lincoln County, New Mexico ~ east of Ruidoso ~ is a 243.7486 deeded acre hill country expanse called “The Hideout Ranch”. The Hideout Ranch is located approximately 16 miles south of the Green Bridge Hondo River Crossing off U.S. Highway 70/380 ~ between Pichaco and Tinnie. The only trail to The Hideout Ranch is Lincoln County Road E028. This is an all weather gravel roadway. The highway road junction at the Green Bridge Crossing is six miles east of the historical Tinnie Silver Dollar Saloon and Restaurant. The resort community of Ruidoso and southeastern New Mexico’s hub-city Roswell are approximately 35 miles from this road junction.
The mountainous terrain of The Hideout Ranch gives you the feeling of a much larger spread. The general location is within the limestone foothills east of the vast Sacramento Mountain Range. Topography of The Hideout Ranch is canyon lands balanced with massive hills. Elevations average 5,600 feet. The higher hill top elevations provide commanding scenic vistas and lookouts for all approaching trails. From the hill tops you have excellent views of the Sierra Blanca and the Capitan Mountains Range. Down slope from the rocky hill tops are grassy slopes and arroyos. Scattered throughout this rangeland are many native grasses, brushy plants, and cactus, consistent with the flora of this high desert plant community.
Thriving within this pristine rangeland habitat are mule deer, Barbary sheep, raptors, and numerous colorful wild birds. The mild semi-arid hill country climate is ideal providing escape from the hot Roswell desert heat and without the extreme freeze of the Alpine Mountain Retreat of nearby Ruidoso. This is an area with a healthy climate, plentiful sunshine, blue skies, and clear star light nights.
The Hideout Ranch is scenic and pristine resembling the period when Billy the Kid patrolled these hills. This is partially fenced and is nestled among huge livestock grazing operations. Electricity is nearby. Utility and road access easements are provided to the property. Much of the beauty of this great treasure is that you don’t have to acquire a taste for an old house. You decide where to set up camp.
