The Bureau of Land Management oversees most outdoor recreation on over 13 million acres of New Mexico land. Popular activities include hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and OHVing (indeed, an all-terrain vehicle is a necessity in many areas given the tough, rugged terrain). Lands of America data lists almost $3 billion in land and ranches for sale in the Land of Enchantment, which comprises over 1,170,000 acres of land for sale in New Mexico. This represents a 60 percent increase compared to last month in the number of New Mexico land and property for sale. Of the 33 counties in New Mexico, Santa Fe County had the most rural property and land for sale. There were 37,346 acres of sold land in New Mexico recorded in April 2019 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a rise in sales activity over data from the month before. The most land sales in the state last month were located in Socorro County. New Mexico is the fifth-biggest state in the United States, covering an area of 121,598 square miles (78 million acres). Wildlife species to be found on land for sale in New Mexico include mule deer, elk, turkey, bear, and dove. Fishermen can enjoy casting for trout, bass, pike, catfish, salmon, and walleye.
