Internal data from Lands of America records about $3 billion in farms, ranches and other land for sale in the Land of Enchantment, which covers a total of 1,266,931 acres of land for sale in New Mexico. Of New Mexico's 33 counties, Santa Fe County had the most rural property and land for sale. There were 34,833 acres of sold land in New Mexico recorded in February 2019 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a rise in sales activity over data from the previous month. The most land sales in the state last month were recorded in Valencia County. The Bureau of Land Management oversees most outdoor recreation on over 13 million acres of New Mexico land. Popular activities include hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and OHVing (indeed, an all-terrain vehicle is a necessity in many areas given the tough, rugged terrain). In its entirety, 121,298 square miles covers land area, while the remaining 292 square miles is covered by water.
