Rio Arriba County is the top trophy mule deer producing county in New Mexico. From Santa Fe:
Head north on Highway 84/285 approximately 25 miles to Espaola.
Once in the town of Espaola, turn left at the first traffic light (at the To Chama sign - just past Dandy Burger). Cross the Rio Grande River, stay in the right-hand lane and turn right (north) following 84/285. At the next light, bear left. Continue north on Highway 84 for approximately 18 miles, following signs to Abiquiu and Chama.
1. Just past mile marker 208, turn right onto NM State Road 554 towards El Rito.
Follow 554 for mile and immediately after crossing the Chama River bridge turn left onto County Road 155. Please drive slowly and carefully on this narrow and curvy road which is only paved for 2 miles and then becomes gravel. At about 3 miles you will see the main entrance to El Sueo del Corazn on your left. Press the intercom Call Button to announce your arrival. Someone will respond and open the gates (you may have to wait a moment or two). Proceed through and turn left toward the Hacienda.
2. If you miss the Route 554 turn and find yourself in the village of Abiquiu, Bodes General Store will be on your right. Continue north another mile past Bodes, and turn right onto the other end of County Road 155. After 2 miles and just past a Victorian style two-story brick house, the main gate of El Sueo del Corazn will be on your right.
